🌟 A Note from Mom
Hello parents,
This week, after Sienna’s (My daughter, 6y) orientation, I found myself both excited and a little overwhelmed. A new school year means another step forward in her growth—and a new season of change for me, too.
One practice that has carried us through since kindergarten is leaving little notes in her bag or lunchbox. Sometimes it’s just a heart. Other times, it's a few words like “You’ve got this!”
One day, she told me, “I missed you today, but your note made me feel better.” That small ritual became her comfort anchor—and mine, too.
If you haven’t tried it yet, I encourage you to slip a small note into your child’s backpack this week. You might be surprised by how much comfort it brings.

🗓️ Gentle Planning Notes

The first week can be a whirlwind. Here are some simple ways to notice and support your child as they ease into school life:

Listen to Their Words: What words or phrases are they using repeatedly this week?
Nightly Story Time: Dedicate 10 minutes at bedtime to hear about their school day.
Check for Clues: Pay attention to what they bring back from their lunchbox.

🚀 What We’re Talking About

After-School Pause
  • When they get home, instead of asking questions right away,

  • Offer a snack, a hug, or just a few minutes of quiet time.

Gentle Conversations
  • Swap “What did you do today?” for

  • Softer prompts like “What was your favorite moment?” or “What made you smile?”

Parent’s Reset
  • Remember to give yourself a break, too.

  • I take my morning coffee outside for five quiet minutes after the school rush.

  • It feels like a mini meditation,

  • A pause before the rest of the day begins.

The first week is less about performance and more about finding a new rhythm. Let it be imperfect. Let it be gentle.

Our little ones are working so hard to adjust to this big world, one day at a time. Whether bold or cautious, playful or shy, they each deserve our quiet cheers. They’re on their way to becoming the amazing adults we already glimpse in them.

With care,
