After a long trip, I wasn’t feeling great.

I’ve always had some issues with my heart and backbone, so when I’m not feeling well, my mom tends to worry a lot. That day was no exception.

Worried about my condition, my mom arranged for my regular herbal medicine practitioner to visit our home.

After a session of treatment, we sat down, had tea, and spent some time together.

For some reason, without much thought or awareness, I reached into a drawer, pulled out a pregnancy test, and used it… and there it was.

Two clear lines.

It all happened so naturally, like it was just part of my routine, that I was utterly shocked and confused.

I’ve seen those videos on YouTube where people surprise their friends with creative pregnancy announcements, but I was so stunned that I didn’t even think about pulling off a “surprise!” for my husband or family.

All I could manage to say was, “I’m pregnant.” That’s it. But even with those simple words, my family showed a level of joy and excitement far beyond what I’d imagined.

While my “surprise” may have been a failure, their genuine reactions ended up creating an even more precious memory.

If you could take just one supplement during early pregnancy, what would it be?

There are plenty of supplements recommended during early pregnancy, but if I had to pick just one, it would be folic acid.

Personally, I’ve felt the effects of folic acid the most and have been taking it regularly, even after giving birth.

While I was taking folic acid, my immune system improved significantly. I stopped catching the minor colds that would usually hit me whenever I felt fatigued.

Folic acid is also abundant in foods like avocados and bananas, so let’s make sure to include it in our diets—not just for our own health, but for the health of the baby, too!
